Boys must be within the age group of 10 to 11 years as on 01 July 2015 (i.e. born between 02 July 2004 and 01 July 2005 both dates inclusive). Six months relaxation in age is permissible for the sons of war widows/JCOs/ORs killed in action.
Birth certificates issued by the concerned Panchayat / Municipality / Registrar of Births & Deaths is to be submitted as proof of age. The birth certificate so submitted by the applicant should be on proper format of the concerned authority indicating all details about registration of birth of the child. In the absence of birth certificates, the admissions will be rejected. Birth certificates issued by the schools are not sufficient authority for date of birth and will not be accepted.
Common Entrance Test
The common entrance test has the following subjects
(i) Intelligence Test (i) English
(ii) Mathematics (ii) Hindi
(iii) General Knowledge (iii) Mathematics
(iv) English (iv) Science
(v) Social Science
Admission into class XI Sc is based on the merit of grades/marks secured by the cadet in the class X Board Examination.
The candidate should carry the following items for the written test
(i) HB Pencils - 2
(iii) Clip board
(iv) Geometry box
Parents/guardians must submit the following documents at the time of admission :-
(a) Transfer Certificate from the previous school showing date of birth duly attested/counter signed by Regional Officer, CBSE/ District Education Authorities.
(b) Two copies of the latest passport size photographs.
(c) Application allowing the boy to take the scholarship examination (in case interested) alongwith the income statement of the last financial year duly attested by Income Tax Authority/ Revenue Official not below the rank of Tehsildar.
(d) An affidavit duly attested by the District Magistrate/ Commanding Officer (in case of Service Personnel) to the effect that the boy is not in receipt of any other scholarship/ financial assistance from Govt. source. (For those applying for their wards to appear in the Scholarship Test.)
(e) Copy of Marks Sheet at the time of admission.
Medical fitness of the candidates will be declared by a Medical Board to be held in a Zonal/Command Military Hospital nearest to the home town after they are declared successful. Those who are found medically unfit by the Board will be refused admission on medical grounds. Admissions are made strictly on merit. The order of merit is worked out separately for each category.
Fee is charged in one instalment each year at flat rates for all Classes VI to XII. The fee structure per annum for different categories is given below.

Yearly Fee is payable at the beginning of the session. In case of a lumpsum payment, a rebate of ' 250/- is admissible to non entitled boarders only.
The rebate is, however, disallowed if a boy is withdrawn during the current session.
It is essential that fee is paid regularly. A reminder is issued if fee is not paid by the stipulated date i.e. by the 10th of July. If the fee is not paid on the first reminder, the name of the cadet is struck off the school rolls and sent home. His outstanding fee will be recovered from his caution money.
The fee should be paid to the school by a Bank Draft drawn in favour of Principal, Rashtriya Military School Ajmer payable at Ajmer.
Other Charges are as under :-
(A) School Magazine - ' 200/-
(B) Cadets Welfare Fund - ' 150/-
(C) Barrack Damage - ' 300/-
5% of non-entitled cadets (i.e. sons of Service Officers and Civilians) are awarded means cum-merit scholarships on the basis of a common scholarship test conducted by the Army HQs. The scholarships are awarded as per the following rules:
(a) Full remission of school fees in case of those cadets whose parents' income is not more than
' 1,00,000/- in a financial year.
(b) Half remission of school fees to a cadet whose parents' income is not more than ' 1,50,000/- in a financial year.
Cadets of class VI to IX can take scholarship examination in November, each year. The scholarship granted by Army HQ will continue to be received by a cadet till class X. As regards cadets studying in class XI and XII, the scholarship will be awarded to them based on their examination results of class X and XI.
The amount of scholarship may be decreased or increased according to the rise or fall in income of the parents of a cadet getting scholarship. The change is affected in the school year subsequent to the financial year in which there is a change in income.
The Ministry of Defence has instituted a scholarship for the sons of Service Officers killed in action or killed in disturbed areas, the casualties of which are officially termed as 'Violent deaths' suffered in aid to civil authorities. These are full scholarships, applications for which have to be submitted to Army HQ (AG's Branch; PB Directorate).
